This post contains 'spoiler-free' reviews of my top five favourite tv series of 2017!

2017 will go down as one of the best years of TV, ever. We're almost coming to the end of the year, so here is a list (no particular order) of my top 5 favourite tv shows I've watched this year!

1. TWIN PEAKS (2017)

Twin Peaks returned for a stupendous summer run filled with trademark Lynch's surrealism, scares, and sweetness. Each time it gave us something we may have wanted, it held something else back. Those wanting answers, or in the very least closure, might understandably feel a little adrift right now, but it can't be denied that Peaks came back as a true artistic force that challenged just about every storytelling convention we know.

2. MARVEL'S THE PUNISHER

Marvel’s The Punisher is a great addition to the Marvel Television catalogue. The show is elevated by strong performances from Jon Bernthal and the supporting cast. Its fearless approach to tackling tough political issues doesn’t always work, but it’s an admirable try. Even in its weaker moments, the series never goes completely off the rails!

3. RICK AND MORTY

Rick and Morty's third season is the most consistently entertaining and ambitious season yet! This season pushed the characters in ever-darker and more bizarre directions, further refining that balance between high-concept sci-fi adventure and bleak character drama. The series remains as fresh and exciting now as it was in the beginning.

4. GAME OF THRONES

With fewer episodes and more impressive battles, Game of Thrones' Season 7 was both helped and hurt by an accelerated pace. The finale episode packed a great deal in, including brilliant acting, awesome battle scenes and a well-executed cliffhanger ending to prepare for the long wait until the premiere for the final season!

5. STRANGER THINGS 2

Stranger Things' Season 2 was a joy to watch. Even in its weaker moments, there are still excellent performances from both new and returning cast members. The Duffer Brothers kept everything you loved about Season 1 and built a bigger, better version of the series that won’t leave you feeling disappointed. Taking a journey alongside your favourite Hawkins citizens is a great way to spend your weekend.
